When I set foot on Gambier Island and wandered into Judith & Rod’s camp fircom wedding, part of me immediately wished I’d come purely as a guest. Cheers burst from a cabin to my left, while a group practiced yoga outdoors.
Frisbee golf looked pretty competitive and farther down the island, the rest of the guests enjoyed a beach day or a quick kayaking adventure. Everyone seemed to be having just the best time. Judith & Rod had basically planned the ultimate summer camp wedding at Camp Fircom for all their guests to relax, enjoy and celebrate. And the celebrations were just getting started.
Judith & Rod wanted a relaxed wedding weekend, and that’s exactly what they got. Their love of the outdoors drew us to a snowy mountain-top engagement session, and drew them to the beautiful Gambier Island.
They planned the ultimate dinner table games to determine which tables could dive into the food first. The crowd did not mess around, and went full steam ahead into the inventive challenges. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen people have so much fun waiting to eat. My favourite was probably the limbo challenge.
Cheers I’d heard earlier in the day came from Judith & Rod’s friends who’d planned a surprise flash dance after their first dance. Their talented group of friends that included an opera singer, who serenaded the couple, and a musical duo who played the first dance song. Talent aside, they have a pretty remarkable group of friends who seemed to just exactly how a wedding should be celebrated with heart, joy, laughter and love for the couple made this day pretty damn awesome.
